Good God Ruben Amaro Jr…
Did you watch the 2009 MLB postseason? Obviously not. Here is what you — the general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies — missed: Cliff Lee, the pitcher you were praised for acquiring cheaply at the July 31 deadline, went 4-0 with 1.56 ERA during the playoffs and was responsible for both your wins in the World Series. How more than that are you expecting out of new ace Roy Halladay? The crazy thing is you could’ve had a Halladay-Lee-Cole Hamels rotation entering the season but you panicked about his $9 million contract and his willingness to re-sign next year. Forgive the rest of us for assuming that you expected that “Are you sure you want to make this trade?” screen from MLB The Show 09 to pop up on the screen in your office, and when it didn’t you accidently hit the accept button.
